Acquisition and Development Agents (editorial)

Acorda Press is currently evaluating potential candidates for its internal agency department. The acquisition and development agent will be primarily responsible for identifying subject matter expertise from academic/scholarly sources and developing titles with an eye for intellectual accessibility. You will be responsible for finding and securing subject matter experts (authors) and working with them to develop titles for professional, trade or general audiences. As an internal agent, you will be managing not only titles, but your stable of authors in the development of their title repertory with Acorda Press.

Our ideal candidate has an advanced degree or demonstrable performance in Instructional Design, Journalism, Communications or experience as an author’s agent or title developer for professional and trade publishing. You have an impeccable command of the English language,  and can demonstrate skills in copy-editing and/or proofreading. You have excellent interviewing skills, and are comfortable and capable of working with people at a high level of intellectual and professional achievement.

Our commission structure is significantly higher than the industry standard for author agents, due to the advanced nature of the work.
